I asked God to inspire me
And the universe sent me two sons
To love and to teach
And to admire for all my days

I asked God to expose me
And the universe unfolded
Clouds dissipated
And the sun groomed me
In broad daylight I became

I asked God to forgive me
And the universe opened its arms
Nature surrounded me
The branches of trees reached out
And embraced me

I asked God to merge paradise and the underworld
And the universe took down the stairway
To heaven
And raised up hell
And here I stand
